A place of learning that provides a Māori perspective on the world. Hoani Waititi Marae is named after Hoani Retimana Waititi, a descendant of Te Whānau-a-Apanui, Kauaetangohia. His legacy is honoured through the formation of a Kōhanga reo, Kura Kaupapa Maori and Whare Kura houses, Kapa Haka groups, Te Whare Tū Tauā o Aotearoa houses of Maori lore. The Marae complex itself is the result of goodwill by the community of west Auckland, schools and iwi from around the country and the world.

Hoani Waititi is an urban Marae which offers your school or group the opportunity to experience the Maori culture through partaking in traditional Maori story telling, cultural workshops, games, and experiences on the Marae.
Tikanga Maori programmes use Maori philosophy, values, knowledge and practice to help Taane or Wahine increase their understanding of their Maori identity. We teach them values and improve their self-esteem and confidence.
Founding base for Te Whare Tu Taua National School for Ancient Maori Weaponry. We provides a comprehensive course in the use of Maori weapons, Maori language, Maori history, Maori traditions, Maori customs, fitness and leadership.

Te Whanau Awhina is a restorative justice programme, which has its origins in traditional Maori society. Te Whanau Awhina is the oldest restorative justice program in the country and its origins are linked back to the early 1970’s.
